Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
There's just no other way to put it. "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" was greatly disappointing.
Starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as the title characters, the story follows the two and their friends over the course of a night in New York. While their main ambition is to find the location that their favorite band will be performing at, the story really focuses on relationships. Nick is struggling with accepting the fact that his girlfriend broke up with him, while Norah deals with a sort-of-boyfriend who is clearly using her to get his album made. Just as the two realize they are musical soul mates, which could to lead to something bigger, they continue to be used by their significant others.
There's also the side story of Norah's drunk friend who gets lost in New York and their efforts to track her down. This part was entertaining, but became pretty redundant early on.
Cera and Dennings play off of each other nicely, but the storyline continuously pulls them apart. Most of the laughs were seen in the previews, and those are few and far between. I expected much better. I give it a C-.
"Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" is rated PG-13 with a running time of 90 minutes.
