Dukes of Hazzard

I had low expectations going into "The Dukes of Hazzard", but at least figured it would be a somewhat decent dumb comedy. Somehow, even that was not met. "The Dukes" is a dud.

Johnny Knoxville is Luke Duke while Seann William Scott plays an increasingly deranged Bo Duke. Both known for their "comedic" skills, you would think that combining them in a movie would work. Instead, there is barely anything to laugh at through the entire show. Burt Reynolds is clearly having fun playing the corrupt County Commissioner Boss Hogg, and Willie Nelson gets to tell a number of dirty jokes, but I laughed only once. What does it tell you about "Dukes" when I say that Jessica Simpson is the least annoying, and yes most interesting, character?

There is a story involving Boss Hogg's attempt to strip mine Hazzard County and it's up to the Duke cousins to reveal his evil plan. Otherwise the scenes jump from one to another haphazardly. If anything, this movie is an insult to the Atlanta Police Department, the Georgia State Police, and the entire state of Georgia for that matter.

This one's not worth your time or money. I give it a D-.

"The Dukes of Hazzard" is rated PG-13 with a running time of 106 minutes.
