Bourne Ultimatum
"The Bourne Ultimatum" is a fast, furious and frenetic movie that is as intelligent as it is action-packed. This is one of the best overall movies of the summer!
Matt Damon owns the character of Jason Bourne, the superspy assassin who has no memory of his past. It's in this third installment of the series where he is determined to find the answers he has been looking for. Along the way he encounters characters from the two previous movies while also facing new obstacles, mainly others looking to kill him before he uncovers the truth.
Within the first five minutes of the movie we have visited five different countries, have met the main players, and know what Bourne is destined to find. It's the adventure of getting his memory back that is truly thrilling. The camera moves at an unending hand-held pace and the fight scenes are intense. While this is something I complained about in the second Bourne outing, this time we are able to follow the action a little better. There are amazing chase scenes that are followed up by a few minutes of government conspiracy talk that allows us to catch our breath, then it's again off to the races.
While you don't necessarily need to have seen the previous two stories, it would certainly be useful. Damon, along with every other character is excellent. This is an action movie made for the movie-goer who enjoys a solid storyline as well as great action. Plus, without giving anything away, the ending will not disappoint. "The Bourne Ultimatum" is the ultimate thrill in this excellent series. I give it an A+.
"The Bourne Ultimatum" is rated PG-13 with a running time of 111 minutes.
