Doubt

This is probably the most simple and basic movie of the year that will blow you away. The story is based on a play, and the movie feels as if you are watching one. Set in 1964 Boston, the movie follows the attempts of Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep) to prove that Father Flynn (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is having an inappropriate relationship with one of the students in the school that she is the principal at. She also doesn't like the fact that he a more modern Catholic priest as she is struggling to maintain a strict code of conduct.

The symbolism throughout the story is so obvious you feel as if the director is hitting you over the head. Every single performance is outstanding, with another tour de force from Streep. The story is about much more than priest infidelity, so don't let that keep you away. There is no doubt that this one will see some awards. I give it an A.
