Be Cool
March and September movies really turn me off from the whole idea of going to the theater. "Be Cool" did not warm my feelings in that regard at all.
Stacked with actors (John Travolta, Uma Thurman, The Rock, Vince Vaughn, Cedric the Entertainer, even Aerosmith's Steven Tyler), this sequel to "Get Shorty" fails to capitalize on the talent. Travolta plays the role of movie star Chili Palmer, who sees an opportunity to get involved in the music industry with newly widowed Edie Athens (Thurman). The problem is that the contract of the singer he wants to sign is controlled by sleazy promoters, including Raji (Vaughn), which also has something to do with the Russian mafia.
There are so many things going on in the story that I lost interest in everything happening fairly early on. Not surprisingly, Vince Vaughn is hilarious in every one of his scenes. It's Travolta and Thurman that slow the film down, which isn't good seeing as how they are in nearly every scene.
"Be Cool" provides nothing to motivate you to leave the house. I give it a C.
"Be Cool" is rated PG-13 with a running time of 2 hours.
