The 40-Year-Old Virgin
This will be a difficult review to write without being offensive. Suffice it to say, "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" is laugh-out-loud hilarious throughout, and surprisingly thoughtful at times.
Steve Carrell stars as Andy, the title character who has never had sex. Once his coworkers (Paul Rudd, Romany Malco, Seth Rogen) learn of this, they make it their mission to get Andy hooked up. On his own, Andy encounters Trish (Catherine Keener) and works to establish a relationship with her.
This is like "American Pie" with adults as the main players. At the same time, the raunchiness and dialog is ratcheted up a couple of levels. "Virgin" is not for the easily-offended moviegoer. The conversations between the four male characters surpass any locker room discussion you could imagine. However, watching the relationship develop between Andy and Trish adds a level of unexpected maturity. Still, I wouldn't, as one of my friends did, see it with my mom. I give it a B+.
"The 40-Year-Old Virgin" is rated R with a running time of 2 hours.
