Leatherheads
"Leatherheads" starring George Clooney, Renee Zellweger, and John Krasinski is billed as a slap-stick comedy. In reality, it's really more of a romance with some comedy as a side dish.
Set in 1925, the story follows Clooney as an aging football player at a time that football itself is struggling to develop a following. Krasinski is the war-hero-turned-football-star that helps to build interest in the sport. Meanwhile, Zellweger is the reporter assigned to get the true story on the war hero's reported bravery. In turn, she ends up falling for both men.
Not a football movie, not a war movie, and not a comedy, we're left with the romance aspect. In the end, "Leatherheads" never comes close to scoring a touchdown. Wait for the DVD. I give it a B-.
"Leatherheads" is rated PG-13 with a running time of 114 minutes.
